The Tucson is the brand’s most popular seller and the second hybrid SUV, alongside the Sante Fe. The HEV and PHEV are powered by a 1.6-liter inline-4 engine with a 44.2-kWh electric motor, with combined outputs of up to 226 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The PHEV’s 13.8-kWh battery pack and charging capabilities distinguish it from the HEV, giving it a combined MPGe rating of 70 and a 33-mile all-electric range. Tucson provides a pleasant driving experience, but the Tucson PHEV and Hybrid add many environmentally beneficial and high-efficiency technologies. The front seats have plenty of head and legroom, and few competitors’ back seats are as comfortable as this Hyundai’s.
