2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid, Changes – This year’s Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is the Korean manufacturer’s first attempt at a hybrid SUV, a two-row midsize crossover currently in its fourth generation in the United States. You can’t deny that the Santa Fe Hybrid, Hyundai’s second generation of its midsize hybrid SUV, is a big step forward in cutting down on its carbon footprint and educating buyers about the environmental benefits of their cars.
With a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and an electric hybrid system producing a combined 226 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, the Santa Fe Hybrid SUV is slightly more powerful than the new Toyota Venza hybrid. Still, it ranks pretty close to its Kia Sorento hybrid cousin. It is, however, the new Toyota rival that is more efficient in this comparison. Hybrid Redesign for the Hyundai Santa Fe in 2024
Both the Santa Fe and the Palisade have a lot in common in terms of design. The Santa Fe is a well-built, attractive midsize SUV. Some may find its maw to be excessive, but I believe it works nicely with the split-level headlamps and other silver trim pieces on the vehicle’s lower half. A few compliments are easy to come by, but it doesn’t go all out on fashion; more Tucson’s forte. Now that hybrids are available in practically all Hyundai models, you won’t find any brightwork indicating electrification; it’s as conventional as any other crossover.
The inside of the Santa Fe Hybrid is noticeably plusher than that of the standard model. The heated and cooled leather seats are both comfy and supportive. Soft materials cover the critical contact points, and the overall build quality is excellent. The front-door speaker grilles’ textured surface may be my favorite feature. My limited-trim tester costs $41,290, which includes $1,185 for the destination, but it should make families feel like they’ve moved up a class despite being in line with the average new-car purchase price in 2024.
The rear baggage room has been enlarged by one-half cubic feet and has a new center stack and console design. Cyclist and junction-turning detection, parking collision avoidance help with a reverse function, highway drive assist, lane following assist, and navigation-based intelligent cruise control with road curve control have all been included in the Santa Fe. However, not all of these features are included in every trim level. In 2024, there will be an eight-inch audio display and a 10.25-inch widescreen navigation display that are both larger. A 12.3-inch cluster display, wireless phone charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless operation, and a Harman Kardon sound system are added.
The Santa Fe Hybrid’s cargo capacity is unmatched by any other vehicle in its class. You may get 36.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and 72.1 cubic feet of room when the second row is folded flat in this vehicle. The seating capacity is five in this Hyundai. Getting in and out of this vehicle is simple, and both rows of seats offer enough head and legroom. Also, the seats are comfortable and supportive.
An electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission are standard equipment in all Santa Fe Hybrid powertrains. The plug-in hybrid has 261 horsepower, compared to 226 for the traditional combination. In contrast to most competitors, the powertrain smoothly transitions from electric to gasoline power. This Hyundai feels smooth and has quick acceleration and good governance in most conditions.
This Hyundai’s fuel efficiency is below average compared to the other hybrid SUVs in its class. Compared to the two grades, the base Santa Fe Hybrid Blue model achieves 36 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Electric vehicles get 76 MPG-equivalent in mixed city and highway driving, but that drops to 33 MPG-equivalent when the car is fueled by gas. After 30 miles of electric power, the PHEV Santa Fe models switch to the gasoline engine. A 240-volt connection takes four hours to charge the battery fully.
When will the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid be released?
The starting price of the Santa Fe Hybrid is $33,750. It’s not unusual for the class to have a few lower-priced competitors. Starting at $39,350, the Santa Fe plug-in hybrid is available. Standard combinations start at $41,160, and plug-in hybrids are $45,360 more expensive than the Santa Fe Hybrid Limited. There aren’t many automobiles in this class with more expensive top trims, but the Hyundai isn’t too far behind in pricing.
